The Thaumaturge is an isometric, rich in its story RPG with a very unique take on the single player turn-based combat gameplay, character development features and investigation mechanics, making you face up to various morally ambiguous choices – the game set in a world teeming with mysterious powers and strange ethereal beings called the Salutors.

STORYLINE AND SETTING

The events take place in the year 1905. Warsaw is living under the yoke of the imperial Russian Tsardom. The inhabitants constitute of a diverse group of different ancestries, views, and beliefs with often very conflicting and opposing interests: there are Russian soldiers, Jewish merchants, Polish townspeople, and many more characters that you would meet on your adventure.

Despite the tough circumstances, the city is does manage to give a feel of a lively metropolis, where one could attend a breathtaking party with the higher classes of society, and later on get robbed in one of the dark alleys of the Praga district. A city that is full of great hopes and grand dreams on one hand and dark desires and cruel secrets on the other.

WHO IS THE THAUMATURGE?

A Thaumaturge is a person that bears both a gift and a burden at the same time. This parallel holds to be quite true for Wiktor Szulski, the game’s titular protagonist, who is drawn back to the tumultuous streets of 20th-century Warsaw due to family matters. The gift of thaumaturgy is actually intertwined with the family legacy, passed down through the generations by one's ancestors.

This mystical inheritance does significantly shape Wiktor’s life journey to be deeply tied around a constant pursuit of unearthly entities and their hosts. As only a Thaumaturge is able to tame these ethereal entities - known to a select few as Salutors – by utilizing their mystical abilities these creatures manage to discover the hidden secrets found within the human soul and are able to speak to the Darkness. No one understands it quite like Wiktor, the concept about how everyone suffers their own demons in a very individual manner.

• Click the Games Menu.
