The year has almost reached its end and did it offer some incredible hit gaming titles to enjoy! We decided to round up 20 of the best games of 2024 you cannot miss out on and deliver them in an extensive list (in no particular order), so that you know what to look for when it comes to the most exciting ones in our humble opinion for both single player as well as the multiplayer experience.

Since there are so many outstanding titles, we are going to split the list in two parts with each containing 10 hits, so hope that you are going to enjoy our suggested entries and perhaps find a gem that you may have actually missed throughout 2024.

There would be titles in most of the popular genres (if not all) that you could find on Steam, so that there is something to cater for all gaming fans out there. Also, some of the games on the list have already been thoroughly reviewed in our blog, while others have not had this chance yet, but we are going to fix that today, so buckle up as this is going to be a long ride full of absolutely smashing hit titles that made the year truly fascinating!

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

Our initial entry is a crusher because when Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine got released more than 10 years ago it immediately became a fan favorite with such an ease. Its sequel was also able to deliver more of what the action series has to offer, which we had been eagerly waiting for quite a bit. It has even more brutal and gory combat, and it was so emblematic in the first game too, but this time it comes with an array of reinforcements as well as technical improvements that make it feel even more aggressive than ever.

Get to use the strength of over 180 fighters from Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, Dragon Ball GT, and select Dragon Ball movies, all in one game! Each of the included characters comes with their own specific abilities, transformations, and fighting techniques to exploit in the fights.

Claim the power of the strongest fighters in the vast Dragon Ball universe as your very own!

Even though this is actually an expansion and not exactly a "full game" on its own, but Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is the continuation for 2022’s Game of The Year that introduced a whole new set of areas to roam and explore in one of the most celebrated and bellowed game titles ever created.

FromSoftware's open-world soulslike was quite impactful and Shadow of the Erdtree lives quite well up to the original by delivering one of the most impressive fantasy worlds ever made possible in a game. You could say that it actually plays out more like a standalone sequel than a just a piece of DLC.

With its rich lore and captivating story that involves tapping deep into the mind of Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree offers a memorable experience and unique storyline from the very first step to the last hit.

This Elden Ring expansion has been made in thoughtful and surprising ways, allowing you to dive as deep into the story as you want to by going through a world full of secrets to discover. The combat system is just as difficult as ever (if not a bit harder), with an interesting balance included that lets you play with your current character without being immediately overpowered by the enemies in the game. It lets you enjoy the thrills of managing new obstacles with a wide array of new weapons to master in the process.

Dangers both great and small are going to give you a challenging time like never before in the Realm of Shadow. New enemy types roam the open areas and such horrifying monsters lurk all around this world, leaving no places to hide from them. Be sure that they are there, waiting to swiftly ambush the unaware players.

Anyone that is able to survive these grueling battles would know the real rush of gaining a victory in its best form and so should you!

Black Myth: Wukong

Another highly anticipated release throughout the year as well as one of the most discussed single-player games of 2024 is Black Myth: Wukong, and it certainly does not need a long introduction, simply because you probably already know about it by now. This fast-paced, action RPG shares much in common with other popular titles in the genre such as Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and the iconic blockbuster franchise God of War.

With its very cinematic storytelling and quite the obvious inspiration from Chinese mythology, specifically the Journey to the West, players are taking the role of the Destined One as they go through some very strange and fantastic lands, where they would go in battle against many wondrous and epic creatures.

With its outstanding character development and environment details, all the way from the smallest rocks to the largest temples around, Black Myth: Wukong is a pure visual delight - with each next locale and mythical boss encounter adding greatly to the vastly rich lore of the world you get to explore.

Black Myth: Wukong has had an overall great success; the combat is quite fantastic thanks to the impressive balance of careful resource management and lightning-fast gameplay that would test your skills as much as other titles such as Elden Ring.

Even though it is a more traditional action game, there are many exciting boss battles, a huge variety of enemy types and the world they exist in is so stunning for both the eyes and ears at the same time. The story has its peak moments but heavily relies on players having at least basic prior knowledge of the events in “Journey to the West” and it could have really used a map, to make the exploration a bit more on par with the intriguing combat mechanics. That being said, Black Myth: Wukong certainly has its strengths to carry it through, making it a great action game that you should absolutely not miss out on.

SILENT HILL 2

The highly-praised remake of Silent Hill 2 by Bloober Team is nothing less than a haunting thrill ride, that features much more intense combat, new puzzles as well as locations that players were not able to explore in the past. The iconic title has been fully reimagined from a totally new perspective, with more open environments that do not compromise on the original's atmosphere and feel. Things are packed not only in the visual department as there is plenty of creepy sound design that enhances the already horrific experience even more.

Go against the weird creatures that you encounter, solve the redesigned puzzles and search for clues that your late wife has possibly left for you in this magnificent remake of SILENT HILL 2.

You will find many of the familiar weapons such as the trusty steel pipe and handgun as they get their worthy return, but now come with an up-to-date combat system, which is much more robust and agile, but also manages to remain just a bit clunky and even offer a more brutal approach that allows you to punish your opponents with a bit more of aggression, especially in the melee aspect of things.

Be sure to avoid the increased number of attacks that monsters now perform with a careful dodge, you are now able to aim up and down as well, making your numerous monsters encounters a much more engaging and dangerous task than ever in our opinion, since they could now hide or climb up the walls.

This title offers player a master-class in psychological horror to be experienced on the latest hardware with all of its terrifying visuals and disturbing sounds included, since the entry is claimed as the best in the series by both fans and critics alike.

Dragon's Dogma 2

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is another wonderful game that definitely is a worthy fit for a list of best games of the year. It is a solid retelling and reimagination that masterfully implements all of the brilliant ideas from the 2012 classic. It includes a dynamic world with many awesome features as well as some of the best combat in the genre that easily integrates a subtle but at the same time very complex system of physics.

This is an action-RPG that is rewarding and somewhat incomparable to its contemporaries but only in case you are able to be patient with some of its quirks and ready to embrace its open-world and quest designs.

HELLDIVERS™ 2

The follow-up by Arrowhead Game Studios was a surprise hit, even though it was different from the original game that it got inspired by. Helldivers 2 urges you to take on the hordes of enemies from the original first game and transforms it into a third-person shooter that just works perfectly in so many ways.

The Galaxy’s Last Line of Offence is looking for fresh blood, get listed in the Helldivers and contribute to the fight for freedom across the universe full of hostiles in this fast, frantic, and at times hilariously ferocious third-person shooter.

Get assembled into squads of four mighty Helldivers and go through the strategic objectives and missions that you have to complete together. Make sure to protect each other’s back – but also keep in mind that friendly fire is still a possibility in war, since sometimes there is no victory without teamwork and sacrifice. Sneak through enemy territory so that you spread Democracy more effectively or grind your route the hard way and charge into the merciless jaws of direct warfare combat.

How you spread liberty is up to you to decide; there is a wide array of strong explosives and incinerating firepower to exploit on your missions as well as life-saving armor and battle-changing stratagems… the main secret weapon in every Helldiver’s arsenal.

All of the creatures on each planet you roll out would want you dead as soon as possible, so be sure to not fulfill their wishes and desires very easily. Just like in the first game, there is a galaxy-sprawling meta-game at play, as you and every other Helldiver fight to free the areas that are controlled by vicious bugs and robots.

Helldivers 2 got published on the PC at the same time as its PS5 release, with options for cross-play, which is one of the leading factors that helped the title sustain a very active player base. We stand together, or we fall apart!

Metaphor: ReFantazio

Coming next, directly from the Persona series director Katsura Hashino, who made a big return with this new game since 2016, and it is a great one as well! Metaphor: ReFantazio is set in a fantasy world with an exciting storyline full of various characters to find and different classes to unlock as you progress further and further.

This turn-based RPG title has many layers of combat, strategy, storytelling, and a lot more to offer. Fans of the Persona series would definitely mark the similarities, but would also be able to notice the many differences as well.

The throne of the kingdom is empty and vacant after a successful assassination attempt on the king’s life gets carried out. With no direct heirs, the will of the late king decrees that the next ruler would be elected by the people and this is how your fight for the throne begins. As the protagonist you are going to go on a glorious journey alongside your fairy companion, Gallica, to somehow manage and lift the curse from the kingdom’s lost prince.

Take your destiny in your own control and face up against your deepest fears so that you awaken the Archetype powers that your heart carries. By doing this you would tap into the power of channeling and combining the abilities of unique job classes. As you strengthen your bonds and party more and more you would be able to take down the powerful foes on your way and definitely find out more about the kingdom’s true nature.

As you go through the available quests and dungeons there would be many treasures to obtain too. Choose your actions carefully; proper timing and resource management both play a key role when it comes to achieving your objectives and goals in this one.

Dragon Age™: The Veilguard

Next on our list is the very recent release of Dragon Age™: The Veilguard, in which you would be able to defy the will of the gods in a very immersive single-player RPG, where you are called upon to become the leader that others look up to and believe would able to unite the Veliguard.

The story takes place in the mystical world of Thedas, a truly vibrant land full of thriving wilderness, labyrinths packed with deadly traps and rivaling cities – all in conflict and able to use potent secret magic powers to dominate the world. Nations are kept in constant war with each other, unions and factions get shattered all the time. Whom would you trust? From the Arlathan Forest all the way to the back alleys of Minrathous, this is a broken world and all of your actions would help shape its fate forever.

Everything seems to be balancing on a knife’s edge, while corrupt ancient gods unleash unseen havoc across the continent since a pair of them has managed to somehow break free from the centuries of darkness they were kept in and are determined to destroy anything in their way.

Now, more than ever Thedas is in need of someone to count on and you are the one that rises to the challenge in the role of Rook, the newest hero we play as in the Dragon Age’s franchise. Rook does not come across as someone afraid of a fight, but you are not able to do this mighty feat alone – the odds are certainly not stacked in your favor. You would need to lead a team of seven different companions, each coming to the party with their own story and skills, so that together you can successfully become The Veilguard at any cost.

These would all be characters to effectively build strong friendships or even possibly fall in love with and among their ranks there is an assassin, a necromancer, a detective, and other roles, each bringing their own expertise and unique abilities to the fight. Make sure to create memories with your team that would then deepen your experience in Thedas and give you even more reasons to fight for.

Ghost of Tsushima DIRECTOR'S CUT

A massive and strong storm is nearing and you would have to venture into the complete Ghost of Tsushima DIRECTOR’S CUT on the PC, brought to you by Sucker Punch Productions, Nixxes Software and PlayStation Studios, in order to forge your own path through and uncover the hidden wonders it has to offer.

As the devs themselves describe it: Ghost of Tsushima is an action game that set in feudal Japan. You as the player would take on the role of the lone samurai Jin Sakai, risking your life to defend Tsushima from the Mongol invaders that aiming to take over the lands of Japan.

The setting takes place in the late 13th century, as the Mongol empire has devastated whole nations on their campaign to conquer the East. Tsushima Island is the only thing that stands between mainland Japan and the massive Mongol invasion fleet that is led by the ruthless general, Khotun Khan.

Go across the Japanese countryside and help the civilians by defending them from the Mongol invaders. There are going to be frequent sword battles taking place in 3rd person perspective with a combination of both melee and ranged combat but there is also the option to use stealth and take out enemies without getting seen, by performing assassination kills.

As the island burns in the wake of the first wave of the Mongol assault, you are one of the last surviving members of your clan, and your current objective is to do whatever it takes to protect the people and reclaim your home. You must set aside the traditions that have shaped you as a warrior and take on a new much more dangerous path, the path of the Ghost, thus wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Tsushima.
